Christian from the Netherlands, graphic designer by day and movie buff by night sends me this link to a website of his which features stills from hundreds of movies back from the silent movie era up until today. For anyone who is interested in movies or graphic design here is your chance to admire the great work of of talented title designers. Not only have Christian captured stills from the titles, but also the end title and trailer if available. Apparently, the movies featured are all movies that Christian has seen so I am sure that the collection will grow quite quickly. Above are a few of my favorites, which are yours? Head over to The Movie Stills Collection to browse the entire archive.

From online shop Inretro comes these lovely retro airline and hostess flight bags straight out from a relaxing intercontinental flight in the 1960s. Although reproductions, they look like the real deal and they won't set you back like the Marc Jacobs designer Pan Am bags that arrived not too long ago. Inretro features both airline bags and smaller airline hostess bags for storing all your must-have items on a long transatlantic flight. I was able to obtain my own Pan Am flight back dating back to circa 1960 from eBay a few years back. Although not original, it was bought from the same line of bags they used in Catch Me if You Can starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Complete with a Catch Me if You Can luggage tag and minus the smell of a bag that's been stowed away in the attic for 50 years. Inretro has well over 70 bags from different airlines to choose from, including Pan Am, TWA, Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa and many more. Prices range from around £20 to £30 which is a great deal for anyone wanting to look like a jet setter.

The classic 'Think Pink' song and dance number from the 1957 movie Funny Face starring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire. Love how clean and stylized the environment and colors are. This truly represents the height of the mid century modern look and feel – clean and simple. Legendary Kay Thompson sets the style and mood. [Thanks Cam]

I always found the Motorola TV ads from Taschen's book All-American Ads of the 60s very unique. They feel so retro but still very futuristic at the same time and I love the way they portray the future in such a optimistic and bright way that was only possible in the mid 20th century. The illustrations were drawn by Charles Schridde and the advertisements were often seen in Life Magazine and The Saturday Evening Post among other places in the early 1960s. Sadly the first edition of the Taschen book is out of print and no longer available through their website. But you can surely get it through Amazon and other online shops. [Via] [Thanks Fhardyfan]

Produced in 1955 and 1959 about the atomic bomb and radioactive fallout and how you can protect your self from it. For someone born in the 1970s or later it is probably hard to grasp the hype, fear and fascination about the atomic bomb in the height of the cold war era. Especially for those living on the western seaboard of the US in the early 60s which was apparently only 13 days away from a possible nuclear attack from Cuba in 1962. These clips will make sure that you learn how to best protect your self from a nuclear blast and also demonstrate the full effect of a live atomic bomb explosion. Very kitschy and very real. Clips obtained through the wonderful Internet Archive.
