My introduction to Dudley Moore was with the 1978 film “Foul Play”. The film starred Chevy Chase and Goldie Hawn in a well-written homage to Hitchcock and featured a dwarf, an albino, a kung-fu fighting Burgess Meredith (The Penguin in Batman), and a papal assassination. But the hero of the film, at least to this pubescent boy, was Dudley Moore as Stanley Tibbets. Stanley is a hairy-chested, disco dancing ladies man – sans the lady. Seeking protection from a killer albino, sweet, innocent Gloria Mundy (Goldie Hawn) bumps into Stanley at a night club. Stanley misunderstands her request and takes her to his “beaver trap” apartment, regaling her with disco music, a mirrored ceiling over his bed, a blow-up doll, and other related paraphernalia.
His scene stealing role in “Foul Play” led to even more success in the early ’80s HBO staples “10″ and “Arthur.” Following his tremendous success in films were several bombs. He ultimately suffered and succumbed to a horrible disease. But let’s turn back to a simpler time – when alcoholism was comedy gold.

Lady’s and gentlemen, grab your partner, cause it’s time for some be-boppin’!
Dave Lambert, Jon Hendricks and Annie Ross are three jazz vocalists that formed in 1957. The trio unfortunately were not active for many years and ended their trio in 1962. Though, Ross was replaced Yolande Bavan in 1962 and continued through 1964. The trio have strong and powerful vocals that flow well with jazzy Big Band music. The lyrics are fun, unique and offer a great beat for dancing with the one you love.
Listen to some samples from Amazon. I highly recommend Main Stem, Caravan and Twist City. Get the music goin’ and your feet tappin’! Also available on Spotify.

Science Fiction movies and the 1960′s. Shorter distances between the science and the fiction. Bigger budgets and better scripts. New actors who have not spent their entire careers fighting giant, mutant bugs. Special effects that are almost believable.
After MGM’s breakthrough experiment of ‘Forbidden Planet‘ in 1956 and mainstream Disney’s ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea‘ of 1954. Hollywood begins to sense that Sci-Fi can be more than drive-in kid stuff. There’s money to be made in them there Martian hills!
Isabel Rose, comedienne and performer salutes 1960s aviation among many things in her first ever music video. If you are a fan of Ann-Margret, Doris Day or movies such as Catch Me If You Can you will surely be entertained and impressed with both Isabel and her music. Her album “Swingin’ From the Hip” blends big-band, jazz, cabaret and pop and can be purchased through iTunes. [Thanks Jeffrey]
Very kitschy and retro futuristic video explaining some of the features and benefits of using home computers (consoles) in the home. With this fantastic setup that would make William Shatner of Star Trek fame envious, you can do amazing things such as online clothes shopping and monitor the home using a CCTV system. Apparently the only thing the husband can do on his console is to pay for everything that his wife buys. However, I find it amazing that they got many things pretty much spot on. What is your favorite thing to do online?
