Gotta love Scandinavian style. Around here in Bakersfield, it’s actually possible to find vintage things in thrift stores and because no one values them, we buy for cheap! Their loss. Of course, our champagne tastes on a beer budget means that Ikea is more our speed for Scandinavian knock offs.

Bakersfield sounds like a great place. I would have thought it was the other way around, Scandinavian vintage design is really expensive in California? Would love some egg chairs my self hehe.

thxjay: I am working on a few new compilations, three to be exact. The first one is almost done, just need to mix the songs. Expect a release within a week or two. Oh yeah, it’s not Space Age 4, but that is also in the pipe *caugh caugh* ;-)

Mid-century modern anything in Bakersfield is pretty much considered trash so when people have older relatives that die, they donate the “trash” to thrift stores so claim a charitable donation. If this “trash” were in LA or San Fran it would be sky high in its price. Bakersfield is kind of a place where people’s taste is entirely in their mouths. They tend to go after antiques much older to prove that they know something about antiques. One of the antique stores is now co-owned by a dapper European guy and his wife and he has clued in that my wife and I are into MCM, but he also gets that we are not a bottomless money pit either.

Ultra Swank takes you back in time into the kitsch, chic and swank living of the 50s, 60s and the 70s. We mainly focus on the design, architecture and the lifestyle of the happy-go-lucky and space-age-living mentality of that era – but also on the music and movies that takes you back to happier times.
