I'm planning on sharing some of the stuff I've gathered on vinyl the past months. Depending on what the response is, I may share more albums later on. Most of them are only available on vinyl and can not be found on CD anywhere. The best thing is that I'll let you decide which album you want. The following albums are available to pick from.

Bob Thompson - Mmm, Nice! (1960)
Francis Lai - A man and a woman (1966)
Xavier Cugat - Dance Party (1967)
Webley Edwards - More Hawaii Calls (unknown)
Engelbert Humperdinck - Release Me (1967)
Dutch Swing College Band - Brazil (unknown)

Is that brazillian jazz album anything like "Bebel Gilberto" or "Brasil '65" If so that would be groovy man.

Oh, and the engelbert would be the cats meow also, ya dig.

  • Chris

No, I'm afraid it's not. The Dutch Swing College Band plays old swing music 60s style. So it sounds like swing but more modern. I also thought it would sound something like the G9 group or Astrud Gilberto at first.

    Webley Edwards... yes yes.

This is a great chance to learn more about Bob Thompson, by hearing one of his pet projects. I've heard the single "Mmmm nice", and it's snappy. You can read more about this under-appreciated space-ager at the official website, Just For Kicks:

    Hi Chris,
I know this post is months old, but I didn't see any of the albums on your blog, so maybe it's not too late to ask for Francis Lai. That would be a real gift!
    All the best,
    Max

Hi! No, it's never too late to ask anything. I haven't posted any of the albums listed in this post yet. I just posted my first vinyl rip last week, but I plan on posting some more albums when I can find some more time. So keep an eye open, and please feel free to request albums you want!
