Eero Saarinen

This is a continuation of my posts about my favourite architects from the golden days of architecture (this one is for you janepeepshow). Second up is Eero Saarinen, originally born in Finland in 1910. Relocated to the United States when his family emigrated there in 1923, where he began to study sculpture and furniture design. Saarinen however pursued his ambition to become an architect, his resume contains over 20 buildings.

Ultra Swank – Your one stop blog for retro living, style and design

Ultra Swank takes you back in time into the kitsch, chic and swank living of the 50s, 60s and the 70s. We mainly focus on the design, architecture and the lifestyle of the happy-go-lucky and space-age-living mentality of that era – but also on the music and movies that takes you back to happier times. Ultra Swank is run by Chris, a Swede born in the wrong decade that currently resides in Barcelona. Read more

Mies van der Rohe

I have a passion for amazing architecture and special types of buildings. Hard to describe the feeling you get when looking at something beautiful, it is like a gut feeling and it feels pleasant. I have been thinking for quite some time now of getting some posts up of favorite architects from the golden days of architecture, thank you janepeepshow for your inspiration! Voices from a Photograph

Here it is, my latest compilation – Voices from a Photograph. I have been working on this compilation for quite some time, almost a year in the making. It took a long time to find songs that fitted both the mood and title of it. The theme for the compilation is mood music for rainy Sundays – meaning melancholic, dreamy vocal pop mixed with instrumental music and songs from movies from the late 1960s to the mid 1970s. I am pretty sure you will recognize some of them – especially if you are a movie buff (like me). The compilation clocks in at about 60 minutes and is available to download from the links below. Enjoy, and please give me feedback if you like it.

Shopping Spree – Part 6

Time again for another visit to some various Swedish shopping centers, as they looked back in the golden days of consuming. This time featuring Stockholm and Gothenburg. Do not forget to listen to “Retro Shopping Volume 1″ while looking at the photos for the perfect mood setter.

This is a first, here is a actual review of one of my later compilations, called Retro Christmas. The review is by CaptainOT, the guy who runs the quite popular A Christmas Yuleblog. I was very surprised when I found out about it. I never expected (or had any hopes) to see anyone review a compilation of mine, they are created on a strictly have-fun-and-share-it basis. Thank you for your very nice review Captain! Since the compilation has not been available to download for the past couple of weeks – I have decided to upload it again.
