Ultra Swank – Your one stop blog for retro living, style and design

Ultra Swank takes you back in time into the kitsch, chic and swank living of the 50s, 60s and the 70s. We mainly focus on the design, architecture and the lifestyle of the happy-go-lucky and space-age-living mentality of that era – but also on the music and movies that takes you back to happier times. Ultra Swank is run by Chris, a Swede born in the wrong decade that currently resides in Barcelona. Read more

Numbers, numbers, numbers

So 2010 is upon us, it does has a nice ring to it doesn’t it? It really feels like we are in the future, not only because of the movie 2010 — but also because of the nice round number which makes me think of catchy retro futuristic theme songs like the one from The Jetsons and Captain Scarlet. Ultra Swank has been around for almost five years now so I thought that it would be interesting to share some numbers with you. As of today there are over 200 posts with 1100 comments, 10 very cool compilations and close to 900 images in the Flickr Photo Group.

Thank you everyone (close to half a million people) who have visited the blog over the years and submitted comments, tips, praises and contributions. Without you this website would not exist. Don’t forget that you can also follow Ultra Swank on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. Here’s to another great five years! (Via)

Comments Issue Resolved

Ever since Ultra Swank switched over to the Disqus system for handling comments, there have been issues with old comments not showing up every post. This has bugged me for a long time, but after a long e-mail conversation with the Disqus support team, the comments are now back again and working properly. Sorry for the problems and please keep your comments coming. (Image)

Shaft and Future Compilations

For those of you who have tried downloading Shaft: Shut Your Mouth! lately it seems that the file hasn’t been working very well. So today I have uploaded a new copy of it so you can enjoy the compilation again! Also for those who are wondering about future compilations, yes there are two more in the works which will be released very soon. Both of them are actually continuations of two of my ongoing series of cocktail and bachelor pad music. More on that in a future post.

Downtime

Ultra Swank has been missing in action for the past day and a half due to a serious server error. Posts will return to normal shortly, please stand by.

And We Are Back

Welcome to the the cool side of the moon, I have worked hard to ensure that your stay will be an enjoyable and fun one. This update is the biggest one since the launch of the site back in September 2005 and lots of time and effort has been put into moving the blog into another publishing system while at the same time giving the design a update. The decision of moving over to WordPress was a swell one and it will secure the future of Ultra Swank allowing it to grow and to have new features added easily. I would love to hear what you think of the changes. Is there anything that you dislike or could be improved? Please leave a comment or two to let me know what’s on your mind. More information about the changes and the future of the blog after the jump.
