The classic car race between Roger Moore and Tony Curtis in the first episode of ultra cool TV-series The Persuaders. Moore in a Aston Martin and Curtis in a Ferrari, they race from the airport in Nice to the casino in Monte Carlo while the song ‘Gotta Get Away‘ by Jackie Trent and Tony Hatch sets the perfect jet set mood. This scene really defines the mood of the whole series which is undoubtedly a fine piece of classic television history. What do you daydream about?

From online shop Inretro comes these lovely retro airline and hostess flight bags straight out from a relaxing intercontinental flight in the 1960s. Although reproductions, they look like the real deal and they won’t set you back like the Marc Jacobs designer Pan Am bags that arrived not too long ago. Inretro features both airline bags and smaller airline hostess bags for storing all your must-have items on a long transatlantic flight.
I was able to obtain my own Pan Am flight back dating back to circa 1960 from eBay a few years back. Although not original, it was bought from the same line of bags they used in Catch Me if You Can starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Complete with a Pan Am luggage and crew tag – and minus the smell of a bag that’s been stowed away in the attic for 50 years. Inretro has well over 70 bags from different airlines to choose from, including Pan Am, TWA, Air France, British Airways, Lufthansa and many more. Prices range from around £20 to £30 which is a great deal for anyone wanting to look like a proper jet setter.

Ultra Swank takes you back in time into the kitsch, chic and swank living of the 50s, 60s and the 70s. We mainly focus on the design, architecture and the lifestyle of the happy-go-lucky and space-age-living mentality of that era – but also on the music and movies that takes you back to happier times. The classic intro from the movie The Italian Job (1969) starring Sir Michael Caine and Noel Coward. The character is crusing a Lamborghini Miura through the Italian alps down to the city of Turino while Matt Monro is singing On Days Like These. So dreamy and perfect, wishing I was down there right now. What do you daydream about today?

As hinted in a previous post, here is my latest custom made compilation! The theme for this one is jet travel in the late 60s / early 70s – which basically means lots of delicious strings, brass and soft bass lines in every form. This is the kind of music you would listen to when you jet-setted around the globe first class in a Boeing 747. For all you airline buffs out there, I have included a bit of history of Pan AM jet flight as a bonus track. The compilation clocks in at about 70 minutes, features 25 tracks and I have already tested out this compilation on some friends of mine and they love it – I hope you will too!
