cdcovers 728356 520x341 Looking back

Happy new year! First post of 2008, let's make it a rather good one. Hope that you have truly enjoyed reading my posts about lifestyle and design adventures from another time. Not forgetting my custom compilations especially made for and released through this blog. I have received such good response and praises for all of them and that is what keeps me going. Just knowing that I can make someone happy by sharing what I like best. I know that a lot of you are anxious for me to release more compilations and rest assure, I still got some tricks up my sleeve. I am working on two new compilations, that will be digging deeper into areas not fully explored here yet. Something different, something swizzle cool. Something for everyone in the family.

les baxter thinking of you front 720073 520x502 Les Baxter Thinking of You (1954)

As promised here is my first of (hopefully) many more vinyl shares. First up is a real classic by Les Baxter. Found it on a auction site here in Sweden for about $6, what a bargain. Although this isn't a exotica record per se, it is still very recognizable if you have heard Les Baxter's work before. Most of the songs on it are loungy and soft - perfect for a rainy night in front of the fire place.

I visited the local bi-yearly Record Fair yesterday and bought some albums in the easy listening category which I thought I'd share with you good people. If you know anything interesting about the albums please use the comment function below. Also, feel free to tell me which album you are interested in seeing posted here on the site in a near future. I haven't been able to find a date of publication on all of the albums, but all of them are in very good condition.

halford1 798484 520x128 Halford Jet Set

I have returned from my swell Palm Springs vacation and brought some gifts back for you all. The first one is unveiled today, it is a musical project that I have worked on my spare time for the last couple of months. It goes under the name "Halford Jet Set" and is a tribute to the 1960s jet set themed type of music and lifestyle. First off is a brand new release of Arthur Lymans classic exotica track "Taboo" with a alternative B-side version. You can read more about it and download the music at the Halford Jet Set site.

Most of them are only available on vinyl and can not be found on CD anywhere. The best thing is that I'll let you decide which album you want. The following albums are available to pick from.

Bob Thompson - Mmm, Nice! (1960)
Francis Lai - A man and a woman (1966)
Xavier Cugat - Dance Party (1967)
Webley Edwards - More Hawaii Calls (unknown)
Engelbert Humperdinck - Release Me (1967)
Dutch Swing College Band - Brazil (unknown)

nuttyprofssor 734213 520x217 The Nutty Professor

This Jerry Lewis movie from 1963 is a real classic. It was scored by Walter Scharf, with additional songs by Les Brown and Jimmy McHugh. The score is still unreleased so I've decided to record the music from the 5.1 mix on the DVD and release it here. The complete score will be added soon (when it's done).
