Retro Airline and Air Hostess Flight Bags

From online shops Retro-Jet and Airlines Originals comes these lovely retro airline and air hostess flight bags straight out from a relaxing intercontinental flight in the 1960s.

Although reproductions, they look like the real deal and they won’t set you back like the Marc Jacobs designer Pan Am bags that arrived not too long ago. Both shops carries both bigger travel bags and smaller for storing all your must-have items on a long transatlantic flight.

I was able to obtain my own Pan Am flight back dating back to circa 1960 from eBay a few years back. Although not original, it was bought from the same line of bags they used in Catch Me if You Can starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Complete with a Pan Am luggage and crew tag – and minus the smell of a bag that’s been stowed away in the attic for 50 years.

Retro-Jet offers cheaper versions ranging from £16 to £50 with branding from amoung others Pan Am, TWA, Boac while Airline Originals have a bigger range and higher quality with airlines such as Continental Airlines, Rio Sul, Delta and many more. Prices range from around £15 to £80 which is a great deal for anyone wanting to look like a proper jet setter.

Those bags are just awesome! Definitely got my eyes on the KLM one. One small silly thing Chris, it’s Marc Jacobs who made the designer Pan Am bag. You must have mixed up with Arne Jacobsen, the famous modernist architect/designer. You’ve been hanging around a lot of design websites recently ? :-)

Hello Royalton! Yes they are indeed lovely. Whoops, that’s actually just a spelling mistake. I know who Marc Jacobs and Arne Jacobsen are, I guess I just slipped on the keys. I always hang out around design websites hehe. Thank you for the heads up!

@Cam Pan Am is yummy, I already have a PA flightbag so I am thinking I should get a TWA one, the world’s second coolest airline.

@Jennifer Yep you should so you can travel in style next time!

This would be a great gift for my sister. She’s into the kitsch 1950’s stuff too. I could never get away with carrying a handbag around here! I’m already getting dirty looks because of my hair. We haven’t come very far.

Great idea, but in reality the Air France, British Airways and Swissair bags are incorrect. The Air France bag shows the logo the airline used from the early 90’s until early 2009 and the typeface is not really correct; the British Airways bag carries the logo they use since 1997 and still do, and the typeface is wrong. The Swissair bag uses the wrong typeface and the red slant logo is incorrect. The typeface on the Lufthansa bag is wrong as well but not as noticable as the BA and Swissair bags. May be worth to keep in mind if you want that retro feeling to know that the motif wasn’t around in the good old days… I am not that sure that there were any Aeroflot bags in those days, but at least it looks good. Get the TWA or Pan Am bags – it doesn’t get any better and more retro than that!

Thank you for the heads up Hans, will make a note of that!

I like the first one in the up left corner. Don't like the symbol on it, but I do like the color and how it looks.
